Statement of Philosophy | Management & Staff | Our Aims

Bright Minds Childcare is an intimate family orientated centre established over 10 years ago. We cater for children from the age of 5 months up to 5 years old. We hold a full day license for a total of 26 children – up to 10 babies and 16 over two’s.

We have a current charter which is our contract with the Ministry of Education. We are assessed by the Education Review Office on a regular basis to ensure our practices and polices meet the high standards set by the Ministry of Education. A copy of this charter is available at the centre.

Statement of Philosophy

Bright Minds Childcare is dedicated to the well-being and positive growth of each child attending the centre. Both management and teachers at Bright Minds believe in quality education. In order to provide this, we develop our programmes around Te Wharriki and the Dops, the Ministry of Education’s early childhood curriculum guidelines.

Our centre is a nurturing environment, warm, accepting and respectful of all its children and their families. We encourage open communication between the centre and the parents. We value parent contribution, and welcome any input regarding their children’s progress.

We seek to foster and extend the child’s inquisitive nature by providing an environment and programme which will stimulate, challenge as well as being fun. We believe in the rights of all children regardless of their gender, cultural identity, family background or religious beliefs.

Management & Staff

Noelene Byrn took over as the owner of Bright Minds Childcare in July 2007. Noelene also owns and operates her own Speech Language Therapy business, and has a PhD in Speech Pathology. She has worked closely with children in her career as a speech therapist and is a mother of two children.

Our Centre Supervisor, Lynn Abraham has worked with us since November 2005 and has a Bachelor of Education (Teaching) ECE. Our dedicated and experienced team of staff at Bright Minds have various child care qualifications, including three qualified teachers. Our longest serving team member Ines Miranda who works in our nursery started at the centre in March 2000.

As ongoing education is important to our Centre, all staff regularly participate in Professional Development courses throughout the year.
